Indian Cooking Recipe: Thick Kodava Kanne
The following are the instructions on how to cook delicious Indian food: Thick Kodava Kanne
Ingredients:
1. Toor dal 2 tbsps
2. Oil 1 tbsp
3. Coconut grated 1/2 cup
4. Tamarind pulp 1 tsp
5. Dry red chillies 4
6. Jaggery 2 tbsps
7. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
8. Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
9. Onion, chopped, 1 medium sized
10. Curry leaves 1 sprig
11. Water 4 cups
12. Salt to taste
Method of Preparation:
Boil the toor in a vessel with 4 cups of water. Lower the heat. When the dal is medium cooked, strain the water. Grind the dal with coconut, tamarind, red chillies, turmeric, jaggery and salt into a chutney-like paste. Mix the paste with the dal water into a smooth consistency. In a vessel, add oil and when hot put in mustard seeds, curry leaves and chopped onion. Fry lightly. Add the dal water and boil. Serve with rice.
