Indian Cooking Recipe: Bhaakri
The following are the instructions on how to cook delicious Indian food: Bhaakri
Ingredients:
1. Rice flour or Jawar flour
2. salt,
3. Warm water
Method of Preparation:
1. Add salt to rice flour and knead it using warm water. Knead well to make smooth dough.
2. Make round balls of this dough.
3. On a flat plate or a plastic paper, sprinkle some rice flour and pat the ball with palms. Use some more flour to make patting easier. Keep flattening in circular motion to make a round shape like chapati.
Take care not to make it too thin.
4. Heat a flat pan. Turn heat on low and place the bhakri on the pan. Sprinkle some water on the surface and spread.
5. Flip and roast the other side for a second.
6. Now remove it from pan and hold on a direct flame. Roast on the flame till it gets small black burns on both the surfaces. Avoid burning.
7. Serve nice crisp bhakri with homemade butter or ghee on top, with garlic chutney or pithale.
TIP: Preparing bhakri for the first time can be hassle some. Modern houses are equipped with electric cooking range where it is a bit difficult to make good bhakri. For well cooked bhakri, put it in a microwave for 20-30 seconds after removing from the pan. Hold it on the coil of an electric range and roast.
Millet flour can be used instead of rice flour.
