Indian Cooking Recipe: Ven Pongal
The following are the instructions on how to cook delicious Indian food: Ven Pongal
Ingredients:
1. Long grain rice 2 cups
2. Moong dal 2 cups
3. Oil 8 - 9 tsps
5. Whole pepper 10
6. Ginger, finely chopped, 1/2 tsp
7. Cashews 10, cut into two
8. Curry leaves 7
9. Jeera 1 tsp
10. Salt to taste


Method of Preparation:
Dip rice and dal together in water for 5 mins. Keep cooker on stove, add oil when hot put ginger,pepper,cashew fry till cashew is light brown and add curry leaves and jeera soon. Add water 5 cups immediately. The ratio of rice and water is 1:2 1/2. After water starts boiling, add rice and dal. Close lid and cook for 2 to 3 whistles. Open the cooker after steam goes. Serve hot with moong dal sambar.
